An Intensive Nine-Day Course in Applied Clinical Hypnosis
The diploma follows the guidelines of international hypnosis bodies such as the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Milton H. Erickson Foundation while offering a friendly format emphasising clinical applications and skills. It covers the principles, ethics and practice of hypnotherapy, in up-to-date, evidence-based, outcome-oriented approaches. Participants can expect to come away from this course with a high level of advanced and practical hypnotherapeutic skills which significantly enhance clinical practice.

Presenter: George W Burns
Director of The Milton H. Erickson Foundation of Western Australia, he is active in several international hypnosis societies and is an Approved Consultant with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. A frequently invited keynote lecturer and workshop trainer in America, Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia, he has been described as a ‘master clinician’.

Applied Hypnosis Unit (Days 1 – 4)
- What is hypnosis
- Theories of hypnosis
- Application of hypnosis to therapy models
- Hypnotic phenomena
- Measuring hypnotisability
- Induction and deepening techniques
- Types of suggestions and age regression
- Applications will cover: self-esteem, ego strengthening, anxiety, PTSD, pain management, habit disorders, and other areas of interest for the participants.
Advanced Hypnosis and Supervision Unit (Days 5 – 9)
- Practical aspects of advanced hypnotherapeutic procedures
- Focus on case study demonstrations and exercises
- Principles of therapeutic change
- Nature of suggestion
- Recent hypnotic developments
- Psychobiology and mind-body healing
- Therapeutic double binds
- Use of paradoxes and metaphors
- Dissociative strategies
- The embedded model of hypnotherapy
- Applications will cover: health and healing, pain, cancer, behavioural disorders, depression, relationship issues and other clinical problems relevant to the participants’ interest.
